PRANAV KRISHNA PRASAD

"SYLP has given me that first opportunity to be exposed to the real world and understand how organisations and corporations function. It’s a great stepping stone for youth who are keen about giving back to the society and want to hone their leadership skills in the process.”

Pranav has always been passionate about helping the community, but never knew where to look for the resources to turn his ideas into reality. This changed when he joined the SINDA Youth Club’s flagship programme, the SINDA Young Leaders Programme (SYLP) in 2019. SYLP was an opportunity for him to serve the community and it provided him with resources to begin his first Ground-Up Initiative (GUI), ‘Foodshare Inc’ — a platform for people to collect and distribute unwanted food to those in need.

Being the team leader, Pranav’s self-confidence grew as he worked tirelessly with his group to start off this GUI. Through SYLP, he also improved his networking skills which landed him the opportunity to join the Youth Action Challenge by the National Youth Council.

His effort paid off when ‘FoodShare Inc’ received a $5,000 grant to run the GUI and today, they are in the midst of operationalising their pilot project. Pranav also contributes back to SYLP as a mentor, hoping to inspire more youth to come forward and devise creative solutions that benefit the community.
